I’m Melanie and I help small, specialist retailers to improve their marketing and increase their sales.
My own retail career began as a Saturday girl with the UK’s best-known newsagent/bookseller. By the age of 22, I was running four departments over two shop floors in a busy town centre store. I consistently hit sales targets and oversaw a huge improvement in our Customer Service Mystery Shopping scores.
In addition to customer-facing roles I also worked in the office and stockroom, giving me experience of a store at every level. So I understand how the retail business works from the shop floor up to management.
After seven years in retail I moved into marketing. Over the next 15 years I honed my skills with management roles in product marketing, brand development, campaigns, publications and events.
This means I know what it’s like to juggle suppliers, distributors, designers and contractors and still deliver record-breaking product launches and company rebranding programmes.
To complement my experience, I also gained the CIM post-graduate marketing diploma and a qualification in social media management.
My background, skills and experience mean that I’m able to bring real, tangible results for my Retail Marketing Boutique clients.
